The Apple Gold Group, a franchisee of Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bars, is proud to announce the acquisition of 32 additional Applebee’s locations. The newly purchased locations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia raise the company’s total to 119 restaurants and enhance its recognition as the second largest Applebee’s franchisee in the world. "The strength of the Apple Gold Group lies in the dedication and support of our teams. This acquisition allows us to strengthen our footprint in both North Carolina and South Carolina as well as expand into Georgia," said Michael Olander, CEO of the Apple Gold Group. "These locations and their employees will be a great addition to our company." The 32 Applebee’s restaurants were acquired from Greenville, S.C. based Apple J, and contributes to the Apple Gold Group’s strategic plans for growth in the coming years. The Apple Gold Group strives to be a leader in the casual dining industry and takes pride in being a company devoted to its communities, guests and employees. This commitment to community has resulted in numerous awards and recognitions, including the highest honor an Applebee’s Franchisee can earn, the 2010 Neighbor of the Year Award by Applebee’s Services, Inc. As part of the company’s community outreach efforts, the Apple Gold Group has developed many successful fundraising programs, including campaigns for The V Foundation for Cancer Research and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The Apple Gold Group’s flagship Flapjack Fundraiser program, launched in 2009, has proven to be the most successful grassroots fundraising initiative in the franchisee’s history and was a critical component in helping it raise over $1.4 million for local charities in 2011.
