

The Apple Gold Group, franchisee of Applebee’s restaurants in North Carolina, Oklahoma and Arkansas, is proud to have helped the friends of Terri Shapter raise over $1,500 in just two hours at a recent Flapjack Fundraiser. All proceeds raised will directly benefit medical expenses incurred to the family of Terri Shapter, who has recently passed away due to her battle with cancer. Terri Shapter was a tremendous volunteer in the Sanford community and acted as a substitute teacher to area schools.
"We were delighted that we could assist this family in their time of need," said Michael Olander, President and CEO of Apple Gold Group. "Our thoughts are with the Shapter family and we hope that this Flapjack Fundraiser helped relieve some of their financial stresses."
The Terri Shapter Flapjack Fundraiser was hosted on March 27, 2010 by the Applebee’s restaurant located at located at1325 Plaza Blvd., Sanford, NC. The group sold over 200 tickets to the event and an additional $440 in donations was raised. Breakfast included a short stack of pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee.
Applebee’s is proud to partner with any local non-profit organization as a way to raise money for their cause. From ticket sales to event-day staff, the breakfasts are managed by the non-profit organization with the assistance of Applebee’s employee volunteers. Breakfasts can be held on any Saturday or Sunday morning, and cost the organization around $2 a meal. The Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraisers represent the restaurant chain’s latest efforts to remain active within its local neighborhood.
